My sister recently had a baby shower at Build A Bear. Her best friend organized it and included the guys as well. The theme was all about children and they read short goofy stories, did baby "word" associations, everyone went through the bear stuffing process and got a stuffed bear with a teeshirt imprinted with the new baby's name. It actually was quite fun!!

I was recently invited to a babyshower and everyone was asked to bring a book with a note to parents/and or baby inscribed inside instead of a card. As a guest, it was a bit more expensive but I love books and didn't mind the extra expense. Unfortunately I didn't get to attend the party so I don't know how many duplicates they got. I imagine you could end up with a lot of copies of "Good Night Moon".

i went to a baby shower where the theme was "mommy to bee" and the decor was springtime and bees. The favors were little pots of honey. It was really cute!

Have you heard of the "diaper cake" gift, it's old but I always loved it. You buy a package of diapers, & kind of roll each one like a crescent roll, hold it together W/ tape, making 3 tiers(like a wedding cake look) then you "decorate" with items like comb, brush, baby thermometer, diaper pins whatever you can fit tastefully that mom & baby will need, & of coarse lots of ribbons & bows to make it look pretty, makes a great center piece as well. I also went to a shower once, that we did a little ceremony that was nice, the hostess said it was an american indian tradition. She provided beads or little stones/crystals with holes in them, a chain of any kind(to make a necklace) the beads & chain were passed around to each person. While you picked a bead & placed it on the chain you said a little blessing/prayer/well wishes for mom & baby. This necklace is then supposed to be worn while in labor for the mom to draw strength/good luck from. My friend said it really helped her to concentrate etc.. & didn't need any meds & had a happy, heathy baby boy. Good Luck, Have Fun!

I really like that native american tradition with the necklace. I may do that at my shower. Here are some unique favors to make as a craft. Very easy.
