It's going to take more than an hour. When I lived in southern Middlessex County I interviewed for some jobs in Philly--until I realized that I was looking at a minimum two hour commute--EACH WAY!
To take Amtrak is very expensive. The only economical route was NJT to Trenton, transfer to SEPTA. Take that to Philly, then either transfer again to a different SEPTA train or walk to the job location--which could be another 20 minutes or so.
You would have to take PATH to NJT then take the same route I did--adding at least 30 minutes to your transit time. No way!
Ugh. No way would I ever do that commute. You're looking at 30 minutes easy just to get to Newark. Then from Newark to Philly? If you take AMTRAK yeah it's maybe 1 hour, but AMTRAK is obscenely expensive. Without AMTRAK, you're looking at a heck of a drive, or a very long commute via NJ Transit (to Trenton) plus SEPTA to Philly ... then on to the office from there ...
No way. It's not really a viable long-term commute.
