We've been living in Monroe Twp., for almost 2 yrs now and it was the best decision of our lives. We moved from Queens, New York to Jersey City and looked practically every commutable area, schools (as we have a 7 yr old & a 3 yr old), convenience, grand home with nice size property and overall people who you neighbor with. In 2 yrs of living in Monroe Twp., we've found a great mixture of people and they are all educated and family oriented/caring people. There is not one single family that we've come across that is not ready to help in time of need. Everyone is practically in their 30's or early 40's and has kids and is always ready to lend a helping hand. Monroe Twp., has also appreciated in value and in 10 yrs the houses will be worth double. We took advantage of the market and recently refinanced and came to know that our house has already appreciated just about $100K in 2 yrs. I'm not sure who here is misinformed on the value of the houses. Yes there are many 55+ adult living places, but guess what they are the ones who keep our taxes on the low side. Can you imagine buying a 5-6 bd, 4.5 bath, 5000 sq. ft house + 2400 sq. ft basement with alomst an acre lot under a $1M and only $16K taxes. It really doesn't take a genius or rocket scientist to crunch the numbers.
