LOL, No such thing as "White Hispanics". Hispanics is a name given to people with 2 or more races (mixed), Spanish being one of them.
OK I am reading in order so I hope this is a joke...or I ope it's been addressed... because there are SO many inaccuracies in that statement I am just dumbfounded thinking ANYONE could think this is true......
I doubt that will be the case but the point is- that life in not fair.
In a fair world scholarships would be merit based only.
I get it.
Lots of things are unfair.
Amen - I'd rep you if I could....
Life is not fair, but it's amazing how when you try to make it unfair to those WITH power it's suddenly a travesty.
Uhh.......no. That is so wrong I don't even know where to start.
A "Hispanic" person, or a "Latino" person, is any person, of any race, who comes from a Spanish-speaking country in Latin America, or has origins in any such country.
"Spanish" people are from Spain. The vast majority of Spaniards (Basques, Catalans, Castilians, Asturians, Andalusians, etc.) are white. They are not a distinctive race.
Hispanic or Latino people can be white (and yes, this includes Spanish), black, Native, Asian, Arab, or any combination of the above.
They're not minorities. They're the single largest population (and voting) block in this country. They have more political clout than any other political group in the nation.
Not sure why they get lumped in with blacks when it comes to getting special treatment, but there you have it.
Because clearly women have never been discriminated against nor have they been subject sexism....
Clarence Thomas is a very, very cunning man, even brilliant, although I don't think that brilliance has shown much on the Supreme Court. He was very much discriminated against as a youngster, in one of America's poorest counties, and he did indeed arise above his circumstances because of affirmative action. He did, however, radically change his views to pander to the incoming Reagan wave in the early '80s, and he was rewarded by the Republican right because of it. If there was anyone who benefited from affirmative action, it was Clarence Thomas, and then he turned around and denounced it. A very slick maneuver on his part.
YET I saw Justice Thomas on TV speaking of how as a black man he is still followed in stores, passed up by taxi drivers.... but good to know there is still no discrimination against blacks in America.
cute how he has to bring up an extreme example of discrimination to make a silly argument that offering money to one group (while deliberately excluding another group) isnt discriminating against the other group.
It's a SCHOLARSHIP
Look them up.
There are MANY different types... "Must be awarded to a student from XYZ High School." "Must be awarded to a student who will study biology..." etc.
