Sure. It may take a while, but it can be done. Don't know if these are the most efficient directions, but here's what I'd say:
Take Kinderkamack WAY down to Oradell Ave. Take Oradell Ave (I think it's a right turn) WAY down until it becomes Ridgewood Ave, keep going until you get to Paramus Road (maybe 5 miles). Turn Left. Take Paramus Road WAY (maybe 4 miles) down until you come to the back entrance of the mall.
Then say a prayer, because the traffic at the GSP at any given time is far worse than what you'll usually encounter on the highway!
is there a way to get to garden state plaza from old tappan, nj without getting on the highway?? just wondering. thanks!!
Take westwood ave to Rivervale and take a left onto Main st and make a left onto Kinderkamack Rd(Emerson) to Oradell Ave and left on Farview ave and head south to Mall entrance on right just over route 17
for future reference, just go to maps.google.com anytime you need directions from one spot to another (much better than mapquest). click on "get directions," and then type in the addresses of your starting point and destination. the site will generate the quickest route, which usually includes highways.
if you want to avoid highways, just click on the "show options" link, then check the "avoid highways" box.
if you're still not satisfied with the suggested route, you can actually click on the blue directional line and drag it over to other streets as necessary. this will generate a new set of street-by-street directions based on your revisions.
fwiw, it took me less than two minutes to generate these maps, including time spent to alter the routes manually. much quicker than posting on an internet forum and waiting for an answer.
