Ok, I'm from the south and I miss the girls in the sundresses and pearls. Are there any places to go in Hoboken for this stuff or do I have to go to Lana and risk getting in a fight with every guy that I accidently touch on the elbow? Not that Lana is all that bad, really I can get drunk standing in the line from all the alcohol fuming from the hair gel.
You're not going to find the sundresses and pearls crowd. Believe me, I looked when I moved here from AL. Welcome to NJ.
That's a bummer. One of the first people I met up here was from AL. She was great, an ADPi there that had just graduated the same year as me (May 08). She moved back to Birmingham though, she really didn't like it.

Rules of thumb:
1. Lana is douche bag central.
2. Hoboken is full of ex-frat boy rejects whom still believe that they are 20 years old.
3. Buy some black pants and fitted striped shirts (the required uniform for going out in the Boken).
4. Buy a BMW, or not a single girl will even pay attention to you.
5. When out at the bars, you MUST keep bragging that you work for (insert failing Wall Street institution here), and how you are quickly climbing the ladder from mail room, to coffee lackey.
6. You MUST buy hair gel.
7. Sun dresses here? Try muffin tops squeezed into jeans that are 3 sizes too small and belly shirts that are sure to make you recycle your lunch.
Hope this helps!
Edit: I see you can recognize Greek life members, so you might have some luck at Trinity, 340 Grill, or any other lame ass, overpriced downtown drinking establishment.

I agree with most of what you wrote. Thanks for everything, sans the cheap shot at the end. Also, you may be unaware that northern and southern greek life are virtually the exact opposite of one another.

I lived in SC for quite a while and had most friends at Clemson, USC, UNC, and UGA. Greek life is Greek life.
If you want a more laid back, genuine type of girl, head East, young man. Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, Astoria, Queens, etc... You won't find "normal" in Hoboken.

disagree -- once they hear you're from Joisey, it's over.
besides, most of those girls don't drive -- you want to be making 2 round-trips each time to see her ? just think of the $$ spent on tolls
