I Repeat... SEVEN!!!!! First round picks in the NFL Draft.

Eugene Monroe(Plainfield), BJ Raji (Washington), Knowshon Moreno(Middletown South), Malcolm Jenkins(Piscataway), Brian Cushing(Bergen Catholic), Donald Brown (Red Bank Catholic),and Kenny Britt(Bayonne).

thats Insane.. out of 32 picks...

So basically in todays first round.. 1 out of every 3.5 Players picked was from Jersey.

jersey's always produced a lot of top football talent. congrats to all of these guys.

now if greg schiano could only find a way to convince more of the elite high school players from the region to commit to rutgers...

A lot of that "convincing" is when the team consistently wins on the field, the team is on TV nationally, and there is a sense that a player has the potential to make it to the NFL by going to Rutgers. It'll take time, but I see it happening sooner than later.

It's tough to keep talent local here in NJ. Imagine this scenerio, you're a top football athlete with many offers around the country. You're invited to the Rutgers Campus (which is a very good school), and you get the star treatment. You then go out and visit other campuses like USC, University of Miami, etc where the football programs are so much bigger with so much more national exposure. Essentially, it's a daunting task to keep talent here in NJ.
