ARE YOU SERIOUS? OMG that is HYSTERICAL!

My friend is a superintendent (yes, overpaid ... lol) of a district in NJ... he said that NJ is at a "level 5" and that if we get confirmed cases we'll be at "level 6" and schools will be closed??? I have not heard that anywhere else, but I have no reason not to beleive him...he does know what's hapening.

We'll get more of that though as more people get infected.

I've stopped buying fast food as I am worried about people touching the food before handing it to me.

I know, paranoid, but I'd rather save money and eat lunch from home anyways.

OK there is ONE case in Orange County NY - and that ONE case happens to be my uncle's nurse.... couldn't we just hit the megamillions instead?!?!? :-p He is getting Tamiflu as a precaution because he is old and frail.

500K? I don't think that is accurate. I'm not sure but that sounds very high. Do you have a source to cite? Deaths due to the "flu" are not usually nor actually caused by the flu but other complications that developed after contracting the flu. Much like the chicken pox, measles, mumps, etc. In this day and age noone dies from run-of-the-mill (read preventable) diseases, they die from a myriad of complications DUE TO having the diseases.

I think its more like 35,000 in the US, although the 500k may be worldwide.

Come on people get a grip. This no big deal at all. The swine flu? Talk about Media manipulation. I love how people live in fear over something that is nothing to worry about at all. Talk about naive Americans

Other than that I totally agree with you. This outbreak is relatively minor and the effect it is having in the US is much less than in Mexico in terms of severity. However, the news channels dont like to touch on that, they are working on their "the end is near" graphics for the evening news.
