What do you know about it? Do you like it? Where do people who live there usually work?

Nice quaint old town. Not much in the town center but a few stores. Main super market is about 5 miles south on Rt 94. A few people actually travel into Newark and NY to work although the most work locally in Newton, Hackettown and local areas. Not much to do but great back roads and scenery.

I agree w/ O&W, small town with nice old homes in some areas and plenty of sceneray. Two things that blairstown is known for: Blair Academy and I believe Friday the 13th was originally filmed there or in the area. Oh and also, the escort chick that brought down the former gov of NY - Eliot Spitzer graduated from Blair Academy.

Blairstown is very rural with tons of farms and open space. It's the kind of area that which you have to drive to everything. There are a few pub type restaurants in the "center" area but not too much else going on there. There is a small airport there as well. You will find home prices fairly reasonable (relative to other areas of NJ).

Totally my kind of place, but not sure what you are looking for.

Inexpensive, rural town that is a far drive to just about anything. Some estates out there for some of the wealthy that are self-sustaining and want to live in a more private, quiet location.

Blairstown is a very cute little town surrounded by tons of farms. I lived in neighboring Frelinghuysen for 5 yrs. so I know that area well. It is a bit difficult trying to get from Blairstown to any major highway other than Rt. 94. Alot of the people who live in that area are either self employed contractors, work in the medical field and commute a short distance to Newton or Hackettstown, or commute east on Rt. 80. And like Moorsetown said, there are alot of famous people who live out that way. Rumor has it that Tony Hawk? just had a huge mcmansion built out in Blairstown.... Harrison Ford I believe has a farm out that way as does Richard Gere. It's an affordable area if you're willing to commute or if you are into nature... tons of wildlife - bears, foxes, mountain lions, etc. Nice town and Blair Academy is absolutley gorgeous! They have a nice little 9 hole golf course open to the public if you are into Golf.
