Hello all! Would anyone have an estimate of what current construction costs are here in Monmouth County per square foot.
We are thinking of redoing our second floor, but the estimates I am getting are making me rethink should I just sell and get something bigger! Any information would be very much appreciated

Depends on what you mean by "redoing your second floor"- are you remodeling existing space, or tearing off a roof and adding new space? Are there kitchen/bathroom spaces involved? Are the electrical/mechanical systems large enough? What's the exterior wall material?

There's far too many variables for anyone to tell you what the "square foot costs" are.

Bob

Make sure you have all the correct permits before you do anything. As Bob said, it's too many variables to give you an estimate. You'll have to probably get estimates from contractors. Good luck!

We're in Union Beach, We added on a family room (21x15) two years ago and it cost us $26,000. We used Joe Murray. That included permits, 4 floor to ceiling windows, vaulted ceiling, sliders, electric and cable hook ups, a small cement patio and steps from the sliders.

Then we decided we wanted to go up and ad on 3 bedrooms and a bathroom. It was about 3 months ago that we had 3 estimates done by local contractors. Joe Murray was the lowest at $100 per sq ft, CTS was $130. And I can't recall the name of the 3rd one, they're in Matawan, but they were $162.

We decided to sell instead

I looked into it a few years ago. I was told if we did top of the line everything it would be about $200/sf.
