Thinking of moving to a condo on Church St in SO. Is this a nice area of the town? I've read in other threads that there are some sketchier parts of SO. We are debating between this and a place in south Bloomfield, and if this area of SO is just as questionable as south Bloomfield (N Fulton St), we'd prefer the place in Bloomfield. Thanks!

That block has taken on a new life since the condos were built and the SOPAC. It used to be a so-so block in the middle of a decent area. I think it has really changed. It is a great location. Close to the train, SOPAC, walkable to downtown Maplewood and my absolute FAVORITE pizza is right there - the Reservoir!

I don't know much about Bloomfield. I always thought SO was a step above but things do change. How do the taxes compare?

Thanks for the info!! Don't know about taxes, but not an issue as we'll be renting. Sorry, should have mentioned.

It's obviously south orange...not even close. That's not a bad area of SO, plus it's within walking distance to the train. Have you been to fulton st. in south bloomfield? It's a few blocks from east orange...it's a hellhole. It's really about as bad as it gets. I would never, ever live there. It's a very scary and very dangerous place. Do not move there!

lol...yeah we were up there this past wknd...we did notice that a few blocks away seemed ghetto, but the area immediately around the lofts seemed ok. It's really too bad, because the building is great.

South Orange is way better than Bloomfield. Church Street is an ideal location minutes from everything. If you are buying , make sure you keep the taxes in mind. I think after MOntclair So has the highest taxes in the county
