Great synposis. I especially agree with your overrated mention of both Steve's, Arthur's and Rutt's Hut. I am in the extreme minority when it comes to Rutts Hut. When I bring that place up, I feel the same way when I say I can't stand watermelon: evidently, I am the only one who has a disdain for the place.
Forno is great, but I also have to give props to Spanish Sangria, which I think is better than either Forno or Iberia. Don Pepe's is also one of the best. If I were to be allowed to pick a last meal, my choice would be paella at any one of these places. (with lots of lobster chunks)
I'm so hungry reading these posts! LOL! I have not been to Spanish Sangria or Don Pepe's in at least 15 yrs but I think I need to revisit.
You are not alone. I loathe Rutt's Hut and I don't know why the Board of Health has not closed it down yet. LOL
Archers was my grandmothers favorite place!!!! I remember it well! Harbor house was not as good. My Grandparents lived on Briar Way in Fort Lee that was across from the DQ, so they went to Archers all the time!
I LOVED Archers. Every year on our birthday we got to pick one restaurant and my uncle would take us all there. I used to pick Archers. I was like 8 or 9. I had GREAT taste! LOL! We have a funny story, well, not funny, but looking back. We used to order non-alcoholic Pina Coladas so the kids would be thinking we were cool. Well, one year one kid got one WITH the real stuff in it. Started acting all nutty and yelling out the window. Luckily there was no damage, and we look back and laugh - but it could have been worse!
No, Harbor House was not as good, but it was nice. I miss that little strip. Is Villa Amalfi still open I wonder? I'll have to ask my husband - he works in the area.
Does anyone know of LAICOS in Jersey City? I wonder if that is still there...that was TO DIE FOR in the day.
This thread is too long to go through all the pages (so I'm not sure if anyone has this restaruant), Brasilia Grill on Monroe St - by Ferry St - has some great brazilian food and their Rodizio is great. I love their seafood menus too.

Archer's was so over the top Italian, I remember the waiter the host were very over the top Italian. They scare me just thinking about it, like a Dillinger movie!!
