Really depends on your standards. Im not a "bar person" but when i do go out I tend to gravitate to the more urban areas.

None of the places I frequented when I was single are around any more so I'm probably no help in finding a buddy, but my regulars are Mojitos in Elizabeth, Robins Nest in Linden, Tequila club in Plainfield, Cuban Petes in Monclair, Le Malt in Avanel, Vida Lounge in Elizabeth.

This is a great place located in Orange, NJ. I wouldn't call it a place exclusively for Single Black Professionals, but it's quite a diverse and eclectic crowd if you're into listening to the blues, great drinks, and enjoying a nice Cajun meal. I was there last night listening to some good music in honor of BB King who departed this past Friday for that great big blues jam session up in the sky.

Default Moving back to NJ

I work in NJ and want to establish some roots here and not always want to go to NYC for leisure. The parts of Hoboken/Jersey City that I have visited still did not have the vibe I am looking for. I would be interested in a good happy hour, or a nice lounge with good music (R&B, hip hop, etc). Or basically anyplace where I won't stick out like a sore thumb going solo.
I grew up in NJ, and have traveled around the world. I still have aging family there, and after living in Texas for the past 14 years, I am always heading back to NJ for family issues, and now that my kids are grown, I am ready to head back to the East coast. I am interested in living in North Jersey, as I grew up in Long Branch, and I definitely do not want to live there. I am coming back as a professional, and I am looking for what the same thing that comingsoon was looking for. I want to be able to get back and forth to NYC, but still live in a diverse area on the NJ side. What is going on in 2016, what are the best diverse areas?

South Orange, Maplewood, Montclair are where you want to be.
