This coming Sunday I have to drive an hour up Route 23 from Route 80, and I'm meeting a friend who is also driving. We are coming from different directions and meeting up in the Wayne area. We want to take 1 car from there and park the other one somewhere.
Is there street parking on side streets where we can just leave a car, or are there any regulations about cars not being left on the street after a certain time?
(We expect to be back at around 1am-Monday morning).
I know there is a Park And Ride off of Route 23 in Wayne. Do they charge for parking? Is parking available on a Sunday night?
Just meet at a hotel parking lot. When I meet my sister for trips to the Island, she parks at the Marriot in Saddle Brook. Reasonably safe, always lots of cars coming and going at weird hours, very inconspicous.
In Wayne, you're not allowed to park on side streets anytime between 2am to 6am. Parking at a hotel (that does not require tags to be placed on the car rear-view mirror) is probably your best bet in Wayne.
Your best option is to park at the Willowbrook Mall Park & Ride, where many other commuters leave their cars all day. No charge -- with the added benefit that it's rather well patrolled.
I had considered that.
Regarding the Willowbrook Park and Ride, I know there is a thing about not parking nights and overnight. I will be parking late Sunday afternoon and returning to the car around 1-1:30am Monday morning. With the mall closing early on a Sunday and the patrolling police knowing that there are no buses at that hour, how likely are they to ticket, or even tow?
I feel the same way about the Route 23 Wayne transit terminal area. I wouldn't care about paying the $2 to park there, if there is no problem with leaving the car there partially overnight.
