Hello,

I have a job lead in Jersey City but am considering living in the Princeton area (and/or surrounding). Is anyone familiar with the commute? Is there a train available? How long would the commute be by both car and train (if applicable)?

Thanks in advance!

for train schedules check www.njtransit.com

you will have to first take the train from Princeton to Newark and then the Path from Newark to Jersey City. depending on which train you take (express/local), it can take anywhere from 40 - 60 mins to reach Newark. add another 30 mins for the Path to Jersey City.

PATH to JC is 20 minutes from Newark, if you're going to Exchange Place (Newport would be 30 minutes, though).

The bigger issue with the train would be parking at Princeton Junction, as there is currently a long waiting list for monthly spots (think 2 years or longer).

If you will be living in Princeton Borough itself you might be able to walk to the little Princeton train station, but you would then need to take another little train to connect to the main station at Princeton Junction which adds another 15 minutes or longer to your commute.
