I agree anyone who gets their homes forclosed on deserves it. They lived above their means and lived in a house they couldn't afford. Then they yell and scream that some nasty mortgage broker forced them into the mortgage. Could you imagine what would have happened during boom times and they didn't get a mortgage?!

I'm all for sympathy, but his financial situation is in LARGE part inflicted on himself. Shame on him for putting his family in that position. If he bought a $400K house in the burbs he and his wife wouldn't be in the boat they're in now.

the guy bought a 960k condo on 200k in income. if everything looked ok on his little excel spreadsheet he must have learned his spreadsheet skills from enron.

whats shocking is he seems to think he should keep his condo. he is going to somehow magically convince the mortgage company that he should only have to pay 25% of his mortgage and be able to keep his place. maybe he thinks obama should take more of my money and give it to him to pay his mortgage.

I'm with you, colleen. I have a strong dislike for greed, but it's easy to jump on the "let 'em hang" mentality without knowing what this family's situation is. For starters, he had no debt. How many people so quick to condemn this family can say the same? According to the article, he lived in the city in a two bedroom condo to be able to spend more time with his family. That's great for him, obviously he could afford it at the time. I personally know what it's like to wait for your husband to get home from NYC-hoping he'll make it before the kids are in bed.
$200 bottles of wine and lobster? When you are wining and dining clientele, that's part of business. Lavish vacations? What's wrong with taking your daughter and wife away every year? I'm assuming nobody here has been to Las Vegas, a tropical island, or Disney? Come on, now.

Could he be a selfish, greedy person? Maybe. Might he also be a warm, loving generous Dad trying to do what's best for his family? Just as likely.

Let's think twice before judging. People who have money suffer hard times, too. Yes, he is in a much better position than most because he has that condo to sell, but he's not the devil himself!!

Yeah now open up your wallet and pay for his overpriced condo with your taxes.

well I agree with both sides, I mean he did go alittle overboard but he did work and worked hard. WHAT BOTHERS ME, IS THE LACK OF SAVINGS for the future and if something like this happens. I mean what ever happened to saving money? This is all I have been doing and I would much rather retire at 42 and have freedom than live like there is no tommorrow.

Yes, I'm with you. A little compassion here, please!

"he had no debt" thats not really true. he bought a condo for 960k and put down 20% so he had $768,000 of debt.

this guy is straight up lucifer. who does he want to pay for that 768k worth of debt? oh boo hoo, now he serves the lobster that he used to eat off of his wife's pot belly. he is whats wrong with the system. people making irresponsible financial decisions. i want to kick the guy in his balls.

He could buy 3 times the price of my condo that I JUST bought for all the debt he had in his 1 condo and I'm only 30 minutes from NY door to office via NJtransit.

He is uneducated and thinks he deserves a million dollar condo after he mismanaged people's money and now he wants pity? I say he should put his story on tour as a comdey act. I would pay 4 dollars to see that.
