Hi everyone.

My family and I are thinking of taking a trip to the NJ/NYC area during the 4th of July weekend and I would also like to stop by Newark to see the Newark Museum because I heard it was very interesting.

I have driven through Newark before but never stayed too long in that area. I hear all sorts of stories about the city and am curious to know more. Would I encounter any crime or safety problems if I stayed in downtown Newark, especially on a Sunday? Are there any multiple hour or all day parking lots in downtown and are they safe to park in? Is the Newark Museum worth visiting, at least on a sde trip? Also, I saw a big park on the map called Branch Brook Park which I have never been in. Is that park safe to go to as well?

bRANCH bROOK pARK IS KNOWN FOR HAVING THE MOST CHERRY BLOSSOM TREES AND IS OFTEN CROWDED WITH PEOPLE DRIVING THROUGH TO SEE THEM.
Whoops cap lock.
Most of these places you shouldn't have any problem with crime.

You won't have a problem. The Newark Museum is great...well worth a visit if you are in the area. Although I'm not sure it's worth a trip out of NYC to see.

Museum and a downtown stay shouldn't be too bad, but BBP has some bad parts. You probably won't have a problem but be cautious.

Newarks downtown is fine. And the museum is interesting; Remember, Newark is probably one of the oldest and most historic cities in this country. The neighbor just has so much more to shut Newark out.

And Branch Brook Park is one of the most beautiful urban parks i've been in (especially in spring) which you just missed.. but it's still worth a visit.. It's great to find out that the stereotype isn't what runs a place.

Downtown Newark has parking lots, especially near the museum. Also, the NJ Historical Society is worth checking out. Branch Brook Park is safe during the day and is the most beautiful park I have ever been to. To bad you missed the cherry blossoms.
