Maybe this has been discussed before....dividing the NJ Forum into South Jersey and North Jersey. I see that other state forums are divided into different areas of the state. I'm just thinking that it would make a lot of sense. If someone lives in one area or is thinking about moving to one area....it would help if the forum was divided that way.

But now that I think of it...a lot of the entries pertain to all of Jersey....so maybe it's not a good idea. What do you all think?

Marge

It might be a good idea. I live in South Jersey right now (even though we're moving!!!) and love City-Data.com, this has to be my favorite website.

But I find there aren't a lot of people from South Jersey that are on this website, it's mostly North Jersey folks or Central Jersey.

But maybe splitting it up into two forums could encourage more South Jersey traffic. Or doing more advertising. I think there would be plenty of folks that would love to be on City-Data, but I don't think many people that live here know about this site.

Good Luck!

I think it's a good idea. North and South Jersey are like night and day in many ways.

Divide it into "609" and everything else.

I don't think it's a good idea, a lot of the posts on the forum are very general and don't need to be seperated from each other. For people relocating from other states they may not even realize there are different areas, I like when I see a thread that says "I'm moving to Jersey, where should I go" and there answers saying north jersey and some saying south each explaioning the different merits. If someone specifically wants a certain area it's easy to say "moving to NORTH jersey, what town?"

Plus i've learned a lot about other areas of the state just by reading the posts from all you south jersey folk

I do however think there should be a sub catagory for angry trolls...

I think that you'd have to bundle 609 and 856.

and 609 goes into North Jersey anyway. While we're at it can we divide the state in two? =D

I think New Jersey has so many issues that pertain to the whole state that it's best to keep it one forum. Taxes, the recent governor's race, etc. all affect everyone no matter where we live in New Jersey. Plus, many of us have lived in different areas of New Jersey and can comment on towns, businesses and other things in more than one region of the state.

As for NNJ/SNJ dividing lines, I've heard many over the years. A common one for North Jerseyans is the Driscoll Bridge on the Parkway. I've heard others say I-195 is the divider. Still others say Toms River or Exit 63 (LBI) is it. One time at a state fisheries council meeting I attended, a Councilman from Pt. Pleasant said he never heard anyone refer to Ocean County as "North Jersey" until he met people from Cape May. For our Cape Maniacs out there, yes, I know - anything north of the canal is North Jersey.

Area codes are a weird way to divide New Jersey these days. There are 609 areas that run way north of the very southern portions of 732 areas. And then there is 848, which includes overlays of multiple counties.

I once almost bought a house that was about 2 or 3 houses from the end of the area code. Same road, a few hundred feet up the area code and phone company changed.
