I'm trying to find schedules on the party boats leaving the Atlantic Highlands Marina. There doesn't seem to be much info through Google. Any ideas or suggestions on finding this info would be appreciated. Thanks.
It's been a long time since I was there Mike. I do remmember just driving there and walking and all the boats had their own little signs at their slip saying what they are going for, what times they are going and sometimes the price.
If you said you googled it and found nothing I trust you are right. I do remember that big bait and tackle shop on the highway having brochures at the door listing boats and times.
I just thought of your answer. Go find yourself a copy of the weekly magazine called The New Jersey Fisherman. Yours truely used to be a contributing editor and published many times. In the back of that magazine you will find the fishing reports. Right there are all the ads for party and bare boat charters.
I might suggest looking up Pete Barret or Russ Wilson whom I know to be the best fishermen I ever met. Sometimes the best Captians are the ones who regularly call in to the fishing reports and actually contribute rather then just place ads. So read the salt water reports to get a better feel then compare them with the ads.
There is a regular poster on this NJ forum who's family owns 2 charter boats there. When he finds this post I'm sure he will have some good suggestions. I forget his name.
Personally, I would avoid a "party boat" because with all that alchohol, the "party" might be your funeral after you fall into the polluted waters of NJ when some drunk smashes into you. Not to mention the crime that could potentially happen on a boat, what with no police to call, and the fact that the occasional unpredictable storm could come up and destroy the hole boat.

I did a lot of fishing on the party boats when I lived in NJ and, for the most part, didn't run into a lot of problems. The drunks tend to stay by themselves and I never ran into any crime.
