Well I think as many posters stated...its ALL about the price...I'm a huge LBI fan...my family has owned a house there for 35 years & it's just beautiful and ALL about the family. (I'm biased I know) Can't say it's cheap but since we don't know your budget...it maybe right up your alley! If you got the scratch...it's definitely worth checking out.
Thanks for all of your responses. I am going to checkout Manasquan, Point Pleasant, Seaside Heights and Belmar. There are so many houses for sale, I hope to find a deal.
I was in Seaside Heights last weekend, to which I was resigned to go since the Pt. Pleasant traffic was at a dead stop backed up to the Parkway. At that point I just wanted to see the ocean anywhere.
I was shocked. It had been so seedy and trashy the last few times I was there but there is new construction going on and the beach was full of families, not drunk teenagers. Maybe they are trying to turn this town around.
I am a few years removed from the Orltey Beach/Seaside Heights party scene as I am now married four years and have an 18 month old son so I can offer a decent perspective. About 5 years ago Seaside and Ortley were pretty much nuts. Lines at clubs and people going pretty much nuts all around. We stayed in Seaside Park a few times so I decided to take a ride (Bike) around my old stomping grounds of Seaside Heights. To my surprise they are really trying to change things. Not sure if you all know this but Tempts has been closed for some time. Merge has been for sale for a few years and has been closed for at least 2 years. Then to my surprise the 1 huge club Club XS had been torn down. Crazy to think how fast things have gone downhill in terms of clubbing in Seaside. The lines at all of these places were insane. Clubs closing at 3am and all of them being pretty much full Friday,Sat and Tempts was always rocking on SAt and Sunday. Not to mention I also drove by at night and things are just not the same, I guess in a good way now that those times have past me by. I got to thinking Seaside might not be a bad place to invest in for the future. The town is much much quieter and much cleaner as well. The only thing that scares me a bit is the section 8 motels that are slowly being torn down. Dont know but it might be a gem in a few years.

I agree. In the newspaper yesterday there was yet another nice condo development going up where an old seedy motel was. What I'm happy about is that the trashy bars/clubs that got torn down aren't being replaced by condos, but simply nicer bars and restaurants that attract a better clientele. I hate to see the Jersey Shore become totally high-priced and void of fun, so it's good to see bar culture continuing, albeit in a nicer form.

LOL. I actually really like Surf Club, but on Friday nights. They usually have some good bands playing and good drink specials. Sunday is a train wreck, however.

The view at Surf Club sundays has always been great.
