Ahh....but if you read the Rutgers Regional Report, you'll find that in reality, over 70,000 more people leave NJ every year than move into the state. The overall population increases only because there are more births than deaths. So you're gaining babies, and older people aren't dying as quickly, but the "producers" (to quote a poster from another thread) are voting with their feet in increasingly larger numbers every year. The net outflow has increased steadily from just over 20,000 in 2000, to over 70,000 in 2006- not a good trend for the state.....

Why protest? Who would listen? Even if we tried the pigs would trump up some illegal assembly charge. Maybe even marching without a permit. Next you have the media who would not even cover a protest because they are owned by the govt and report only which the govt tells them to.

Then you have the problem of time to protest. In the good ol days we protested everything. If us peasants did not like something the govt was doing we would march, rant and carry signs saying hooray for our side. The govt was afraid of we the people. Today the people are afraid of the govt. Communism is contagious and grows like a cancer.

Today we have no time to protest. We are too busy working 2 jobs just to keep our heads above water. The govt has their foot right on our neck and we can not get up. Who has time to protest? If we found time it would be on a weekend when all govt fat cat Bureaucrats are off from their grossly overpaid jobs and off to their vacation homes up in the mountians or overlooking the ocean so they will never get to see the protests on TV or their streets.

It's hopeless. The only concrete protest is not to vote. By voting you are telling the politicos that you approve of what they are doing. And by not voting then you have the right to complain when they screw up. Pizz on the govt.

Are New Jerseyans so rich that they are able to live in a bubble completely oblivious to whats going on? is that what it is?
What about our biggest cities, Newark, Jersey City, Camden, Paterson, and Elizabeth.. most the people there aren't so rich.

But the rest of your post, I agree.

No....they're not rich in those cities but thats why NJ will never get ahead.....everyone else in NJ is working overtime and then having their wallets raped by Trenton to keep these failed cities afloat.

Hopefully NJ residents will show their disgust this November by ousting the entire Assembly and our cowardly, inept, do nothing about corruption (as he promised) Governor.

GRIP in November (Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians)
After living in Hawaii, I can tell you that while that state has many wonderful qualities, it is no paradise. The homeless, drug and gang problems are endemic and getting worse. Real estate is astronomical, jobs are few and far between, and the pay absolutely stinks. The schools are the worst in America.

Yes it most certainly does hold water. We're an outflow state. Like other progressive nirvanahs (unless you factor in legal and illegal foreign born immigrants adding to the population).

Where do think NC's growth in the last decade came from? High birth rates?

Gov Corzine, in a radio interview where he was asked about the numbers of fleeing middle class, attributed it to the weather. Talk about being out of touch with reality.

Jersey residents are not protesting because there is nothing to protest. Out of all fifty states, New Jersey finished #1 in taxes and #2 in average state salary. So, the higher salaries offset the taxes. New Jersey must be doing something right because they are the densest state of all fifty.

No one is arguing these facts.....what people want to know is why is NJ #1 in taxes ??? What are we doing wrong that out of all 50 states causes us to be taxed the worst ????? What can be changed to make our tax rates more reasonable ???

Your argument does not hold water, New Jersey has not experienced negative growth. The sunbelt states that have grown had extremely low populations to begin with and were nowhere near as dense as New Jersey is and will continue to be. As a matter of fact some of these sunbelt states are now losing population.
