Used to go there couple of times a year before they raise all the hotel rates in the area. When I can't even get a room for under $100, there is no point going there as I don't gamble much. I mainly go there just to enjoy a weekend of fun with little gambling mixed in.
its a shame that you cant get a reasonable rate on the weekend but the problem is if you have low rates (particularly because its a gambling destination) you get a lot of degenerates.
Looking at rooms for this coming weekend a bunch of those pricey hotels are sold out for the whole weekend. I have friends that went down for a night. They are not gamblers so it was just a night food and drinks at a new club that just opened. They stayed at the Caesars for like $450 on a Satuday night. I think it is crazy but they said the place was jam packed
The reason the room prices are so high on the weekends is because that is what the market will bear. Between people actually paying the room rates & comps for valuable players, they don't have a huge excess of inventory. If they are filling up on Friday & Saturday nights, why would they lower the rates?
A lot of young people are willing to spend the money on the rooms but they're not gambling as much. However, the lines to get into some clubs are out of control on a Saturday night. Check out the Pool at Harrah's, Dusk at Caesars, or any of the bars in Borgata. Plenty of 20-somethings willing to pay $25 to get in to a place before spending $10 per drink.

YOu should book rooms on route 30 instead in Absecon, NJ . A lot of people do that and it's only a 10 minute drive to the boardwalk. All the popular inns and hotels have a location there: holiday inn, comfort in howard johnson, best western, ramada, super 8, days inn etc. I wouldn't be paying 450 for a saturday night. we went last weekend and the room was $130 for the night and we split it with another couple so we made out good by only paying $65 each. I'd rather save that extra money for the gambling, dinner, and a show.
