I believe they are doing a tax reassessment in Bergenfield, perhaps that will ease the high taxes for some residents. The Bergenfield schools took a huge leap in the latest rankings for 2010 I saw. I believe they jumped up 100 spots.

Can anybody share some specifics on commuting to NYC from Bergenfield? I am used to taking the train and not sure how bus will be? Also, I work in Chelsea and commuting into Port Auth is definitely not as easy as doing so from the Path. Any info would be greatly appreciated as my hisband and I are looking to buy in Bergenfield in the next few months.

-Thanks!

Bus # 177x is an express bus with excellent frequency with its last stop at the armory on Bergenfield/Teaneck border and then to Port authority (midtown) via Lincoln tunnel in about 35 mins during rush hours. My wife used to take this bus every day to Port Authority and I don't recall her waiting for the bus for more than 5 mins.
Bus # 186 takes one over GWB but takes much longer.

Thanks!
Well, it's not as wealthy as some of its neighbors, like Tenafly or the east side of Englewood or northwestern Teaneck. But Bergenfield is not downmarket, even by Bergen County standards. It has a decent downtown area, although you'll probably find yourself going to nearby Englewood and Tenafly for their nicer downtowns. Both are very close by.

Definitely quiet, unless you're right along Washington Ave, the main commercial street.
