Moving to Howell NJ in Sept. and I am planning on taking the NJ Transit Bus 139 to Penn Station NY. Does anyone know about how long this takes if you leave by 630am? Also, how much is the monthly fare? Thanks

We are planning on moving from north jersey to Brick or Howell. Can someone give me some info on both towns, I have looked on the net but it's not the same as living there.
Also, I see there is a new adult 55 community called Pine View Estates. Does anyone have any info on this place. Pictures look nice, are the taxes high, are they selling well etc.
Thanks,
Ed

Howell's taxes will be higher than Brick's, but not by much. Compared to just about anywhere up north, the taxes are reasonable - uniformly below the state average. Howell's water/sewer rates will be particularly high, however, while Brick's will be somewhat lower than average.

Overall, Brick is a mix of traditionally suburban and coastal areas (you're never more than 5 minutes from the water) while Howell has many rural areas, with subdivisions and suburban neighborhoods mixed in. Both have a mix of white and blue collar residents.

Howell is in Monmouth County, Brick is in Ocean County. I can't really comment on which 55+ developments are better than others. I know Pineview is in the Ramtown section of Howell, which is one of the nicest sections of town. It's a few blocks away from Brick Twp. and Wall Twp. on either side.
