Hi everyone I have a new baby and want to know if anyone knows of a day care centers in Clark and the vicinity. Also, this will be the first time I will be using a day care center what should I look for?

You should definately visit more than one before you decide. Check what the child/teacher ratio is. I went with an family day care provider that I found through Catholic Charities (they oversee the private daycare providers in my area-it may be the same for Clark). And listen to your gut. If you get a bad vibe-trust it. Good luck. It's hard leaving your baby the first time. Mine was 4 months old (now 17 months old) when I left her, but we got very lucky and she/we love her daycare provider.

Thanks regarese for your post. I am also considering using a mother who runs a babysitting service rather than a day care. Are there any pros/cons to this?

Sure there are pros/cons. I would say the biggest con, for me, is the provider's schedule. I think someplace like Kindercare or something like that is probably more flexible with a working parent's schedule. My provider, for example is taking 3 weeks vacation this summer so I have to find alternate child-care. She has an assistant, but she doesn't fill in for vacations. I looked at a couple of daycare centers and just felt better about bringing my daughter to somebody's home. I like that it is a very small group of kids (6-with 1 of those being a 4 month old-when she has full attendance) and the woman who watches her is not restricted by a corporate policy, political correctness (they died "Easter" eggs), fear of being written up for offending somebody-that kind of stuff. She has a curriculum, but still lets the kids be kids with playing. I just like that I feel like I'm leaving my daughter with a family member and not someplace where I don't have a say who gets hired or fired. I know who is with her everyday and I like that consistancy. Her provider is treating the kids like she raised her own and I just prefer that environment. But all of my pros could be somebody else's cons so you have to go with what feels right for you and your baby.
