I would love to move to either Vegas (Green Valley area or Summerlin) or Scottsdale Arizona. I love the weather out west and the homes are so beautiful, almost all have inground pools.
Now with Vegas having the highest foreclosure rate, i'm sure there are steals out there. Now the only hard part would be finding a corporate job convincing my mom to come with LOL
We left NJ and moved upstate NY and have never looked back. We didn't want to move south, as we don't like the humidity and heat, so we headed north. The people are friendly, helpful and it is peaceful. We were paying almost the same amount of taxes on a townhouse in NJ that we are paying on three acres.
The ONLY two things I miss are Costco and Shop-Rite.
I'll second your statement but with one exception. I've found that I like Wegman's a lot better than Shop-Rite..:-)

You're 100% correct that you can steal some stuff in Vegas right now, but finding a job- especially a corporate position- will be next to impossible. I spend 5 years in Las Vegas from 94-99, and there's very little other than casino-related industry and small business (doctors, lawyers, contractors, etc)- very few companies have large headquarters-type operations there.

What area did you live in? And do you miss it. I always wonder why so many people move there, but don't end up staying. The lifestyle seems so laid back compared to here and I love all the gated communities there

No you do not want to move to Vegas. How can you love 120 degrees all summer long? Greenback Valley and Snoberlin are for communists with the strictest commy HOAs in the USA.
Yes they have the highest forclosure rate on earth. Yes there are steals out there....but are they steals? That 3000 sf house that sold for a million dollars 4 years ago can be had now for $400K. Is that a bargain? That house you just bought for $400K will be worth $300K next year. So comes the next generation of foreclosures.
There are no jobs there. What very few there are happen to be all very very low wage uneducated jobs and the competition is so fierce that it ain't worth it.
I was far more happy to escape that crime infested sheet hole then I was Jersey. At leastI want to come back to Jersey to visit. Do some research first. The lowest rated health care in the USA, the lowest rated schools in the USA. The list is long.
Go west young man is no longer a saying.
My friend Bob Kovacs above will verify all of this.
I'd mock you for that, but I don't want the Red Font of Doom sledgehammer coming out.
