I live in Sandyston which is the next town over. As far as work there is not much around here. I would say most people have a long commute. My wife and I worked in Morristown and it was easily an hour and a half each way during rush hour. The other challenge with living here is you have to drive far for everything. Grocery shopping is a 20 - 25 minute trek into Newton. Something breaks in the house and your driving to newton...or you can pay the toll and head over to PA.
I know a lot of people like the area. I personally am not a fan. I came from an area that had everything I needed within 5 or 10 minutes.
also the isolation factor, its very isolated . You feel no connection to any community the more west nj you go the less conected to anything but trees you feel.

Wow...you actually replied to this without making a hillbilly reference? Marilyn, you're changing....
some of us prefer the loud noise of silence and darkness up in the woods instead of the hustling & buzzling of the urban areas. Montague is not for the urban yuppies in need of instant gratification, instead Montague is like a hot cup of coffee, you sip it slowly and enjoy the aroma.
You don't have to go to Newton either...there is some shopping center on the Jersey side of Rt 23 just before you cross into Pt Jervis, all though not 5 minutes away either.
I think, you can get commuter train into NY from Pt Jervis
