Does anyone know what the difference, besides $20, is between the Taj Tower and the Chairman Tower/
Also, how far from the beach is the Taj Mahal?
This is our first trip to Atlantic City and we are excited about it. I LOVE Jersey and people from Jersey!!!
We are chosing to stay at the Taj Mahal because of its price and closeness to the Pier (in photos it looks like it is right near the pier)
Thank you in advance for your help.
ALSO, how far away is Lucy the Elephant from AC?

The Taj Mahal is right along the Boardwalk, which is the wooden platform separating the beach from the "main group" of casinos. So the Taj-along with a few other casinos- is as close as you can get to being on the beach. They have a front entrance leading to the street, and a back entrance leading directly to the boardwalk and the beach. Similar to the other casinos, guests probably also have a "designated" area of the beach where they get preferred access, although this issue is rarely a problem (if you want to move over a few feet to get closer to nice sand, waves, etc., that is technically "assigned" to the other casino, I have never seen anyone make you move.) I think Lucy is in Margate, so probably about 5 miles, so 5-10 min drive, but would be a LONG walk.

I have never heard of the "Chairman Tower" is it part of the Taj? If so, they would be in the same location. Lucy is about 15 minutes from AC up Ventnor Ave, could take longer if you go on a weekend. She is really cool, though! If you ever go to the Yacht and Beach Club hotel in Disney World, look for her painting in the lobby! The Pier at Caesar's (about a 5 minute walk up the boardwalk from the Taj) has a candy store that has a "jelly bean" Lucy, made of over a million jelly beans. There is also a free light and water show in the Pier at Ceasar's every hour that's also worth seeing. The Steel Pier IMO isn't really worth staying in a hotel just to be near it. You can walk to it from any casino, but IMO most of the "action" is in the area of Caesar's, Bally's, Trump Plaza, and then you're halfway to everything (the Quarter at the Trop is at the other end of the boardwalk from the Taj and is also fun to see with good restaurants).

I frequent AC regularly - about twice a month.

If you're going for some beach action, choosing a hotel on the boardwalk (such as Taj) is the way to go. Other Casino hotels include the Showboat (which is internally connected to the Taj), Caesars, Bally's, Trump Plaza, and Tropicans (which I don't recommend because it's on the end of the boardwalk and further from the action.

Which pier are you talking about? The Steel Pier (amusement rides - but quite lacking IMO) or the Pier at Caesars (excellent shopping, restaurants and quasi-nightlife)?

If you want the best Casino and nightlife experience, your best bets are the Borgata or Harrahs. Unfortunately, they are not near the beach or baordwalk, but rather they are near the Marina. It's about a 10 minute drive with traffic.

The boardwalk North to South goes like this:

Showboat -> adjacent -> Taj -> 5 minute walk -> Resorts Casino (I know nothing about this one) -> 10 minute walk -> Bally's -> adjacent -> Caesars -> adjacent -> Trump Plaza -> 15 minute walk -> Tropicans.

There's lots of little beach-style boardwalk shops all up and down the boardwalk inbetween the casinos.
