I'm looking into moving to NJ, but haven't the faintest idea where I should go. I work in Midtown and would like a commute no longer than an hour if possible. I'm looking for good schools and a nice, safe area. Please any help that you can offer, I would greatly appreciate. I know very little about Jersey and need as much guidance as I can get. Thanks in advace to all who answer.
I would like 400K or less - Please tell me this is doable, I don't want to spend my life commuting, but I don't want to be in debt up to my eyeballs either.
Sure! I feel like I keep recommending this town, but I do think it's a good deal and you could get something nice in your price range....Ridgefield Park.
Nice small town, good schools and an excellent commute to Midtown (tons of NJ Transit buses running constantly, express buses in the morning to Port Auth. that are only 30 minutes).

The sad fact is, most people who live in NJ and work in NYC spend their life commuting and cannot escape it because they are in debt up to their eyeballs ...
Yay housing bubble! Let's do all we can to re-inflate it!
Okay...I'm guessing you got caught in the mess or you are suffering because of it. Either way, I'm sorry about that, but we have to try and make the best of what we have.
