Zack,

I currently live in Union of Union County and an an ex-yuppie (2 kids later we're now just parents) hopefully I can shed some insight. If you feel the need to be in THE center of action and in a small, overpriced apt feel free to go to Hoboken. Otherwise, you can purchase a pretty decent townhome in Union right next to the train station. Driving into Hoboken is about 15-25 mins depending on time of day. If a single family home is your thing you can get into one for around $300-$350k. The area we chose is near Suburban Golf Club and Washington elementary. Quiet, safe, and conveinient area. As mentioned, Hoboken, JC are fairly close not to mention you're right next to Cranford and Westfield. Good luck.

Summit, NJ is a pretty yuppie place, though the bar scene is lacking. You could look into Morristown, that's become very yuppified over the last few years.

To the OP, what makes you a yuppie? Yuppie is a nickname for Young, Urban, Professional. Coming from South Jersey OR North Carolina, I wouldn't file you in that category. Anyway, you have to specify which Union, NJ you are talking about. There are several, and they are vastly different areas.
