Wow this is funny, the port unions want to halt the use of technology as it may cost them their jobs.

Didn't work for the auto unions and it won't work for them. Times are changing and the strangle hold the port unions have in NJ is coming to an end and prices on imports/exports can come down.

Technology could potentially cost hundreds dock jobs in Bayonne | Hudson County Now - - NJ.com

This is one of the union situations that people don't hear about often, yet is extremely damaging to our economy. Thanks to the unions, we have the slowest ports in the world and unlike every other country on the face of the planet, our ports actually CLOSE DOWN at night. Everywhere else, the ports run 24/7.

That's because the ILA doesn't run those ports. Dude, a regular ILA dock worker probably makes more than a CEO of a medium sized company....with overtime and benefits, that would amount to about $200k-$300k. And that's just a regular guy! That's why people will pay to join them. And spare me the whole "On The Waterfront" killed all that....payola to the ILA is alive and well. Waterfront Commission does nothing to stop it.

Exactly the same claims were made of the ports before I came to America. Both countries can't be slowest...
