Hello All,

I know many people say Plainfield is bad... but here is what I have found... The high school definitely is bad. The elementary schools, not as bad. Property values have more than doubled since 2000. Crime has gone down every year except one since 2000.

So, what I am wondering, especially since my husband and I do not plan on having children, should we move to Plainfield?

We have found homes in the Sleepy Hollow area, the Netherwood Heights Neighborhood and in the Van Wyck Brooks Historic District. The one we like the best is in the Van Wyck Brooks Historic District and my research on that area has come up short. I can find loads on Sleepy Hollow and on Netherwood Heights but very little on Van Wyck Brooks Historic District. I did see Van Wyck Brooks Historic District but that doesn't give me the type of info I want. I am looking for information on the community, how often they meet, what efforts are underway to clean up and restore the area, past events, etc.

Anyone know anything about the Van Wyck Brooks Historic District?

I graduated from Plainfield High in 1974 but I left the area, and the state, in 1988. I remember that area as being very nice, but I don't have any of the information you seek. The link you posted is probably your best source - try to contact the owner of that site.

I was hoping someone that lives in Plainfield could give me the "inside" information on the area.
