Everybody would benefit from it. As crazy as that sounds, people got choices so if whoever wants to get high and screwed up, let em.

I agree--it's a victimless crime. Plus alcohol is a lot worse than drugs, including the impairment on one's driving ability.

The criminalization of drugs only creates more crime, hinders rehab and costs the tax pairs a ton of money and creates a HUGE BLACK MARKET!

Not going to happen anytime soon in NJ--even Pot.

Default up and coming new cause of death

'Poisoning' is exponentially nudging heart disease, cancer and trauma in the leading cause of death list now.

Would be great if dolts would simply go to their room, stay there and OD but how can you expect a ,mind or mood altering drug, to make an irresponsible person suddenly responsible and not harm other people while in a drug induced/ mind altered state whether on the road or in private?

While the jails would be emptied the hospitals would be overflowing.

Of course if we all go on the government dole, it might be worth it to sit around in drug induced comas. Selling a ladder without warning labels, smoking cigarettes and biking without a helmet are punishable offenses deemed to be irresponsible and cost society in medical bills and lost productivity. So it is logical that unrestricted drug use would be safer than riding a bike.

As the FDA is charged with drug efficacy and safety assurance before approval, recreational drugs would be subject to years of study but the problem would be that it is unethical to dose a study volunteer with drugs to determine effective dosing and adverse events. Additionally the drug producer would be liable for any adverse events or deaths and would be sued into bankruptcy, further preventing the availability of recreational drugs. It would be similar to what happened to IUDs, and that was just a 'device' with much less restrictive approval criteria.

Excuse me a slip of tolerance here the idea of legal recreational drug use is beyond comprehension. Of course if there are enough of you and you qualify to vote, suggest it to Jon Corzine as he is looking for votes. He just approved Sunday bowhunting in NJ just in time to garner the vote of the sporting public.

how would everybody benefit from it?

i am not a fan of laws that stop people from doing bad things that only harm themselves. however, if the person also hurts someone else then there needs to be very severe punishments for the risky behaviors that might end up bad. like murder charges for DUI's. i also definitely would want the ability to get carry permits in nj looked at because sometimes the only way to put down someone on drugs is by shooting them.
