I am currently working in Sparta, New Jersey and my boyfriend lives in South Brunswick off of Rt 1. It is becoming impossible to travel through 287 to get to Rt 1 with all the traffic especially around 6pm. It is almost taking 2 hrs. just to get home at night. Does anybody have any back roads or suggestions of another way to drive through this area?

The goodnews: there ARE lots of backroad ways....
The badnews: I don't know them. LOL

But we often travel through that area, actually just bought a house in North Brunswick (I live in Parsippany now), and I know Route 1 is a pain. My BF has a navigational system which he constantly uses to avoid Route 1 and we are always up and down side streets.... like I said, I just don't know them off the top of my head to convey to you. But there is hope! LOL I'd invest in a good GPS and select 'avoid highways'...

The only other route I can think of would be 206, but I can't imagine that would be better. Google maps shows some other route, 15 to 287 to 444 to the Turnpike. I'm sure that stinks too.

Buy some books on tape to listen to, get some snacks and just try to go with it. Unless you want to wait until 8pm when rush hour is over.
