I'm living in Paris, France, and will arrive in New York during the second week of April .
My father was born in New York in 1899, and lived in South Orange with his parents, brother and sisters .
The only adress I have found is 416 Cumberland Road in South Orange .
The few maps I have seen on the internet let me think that this adress does not exist anymore, because the street seems to be very short .
Would anyone living in South Orange be kind enough to tell me if this adress still exists ?
If so, I'll try to come and see where my father was living when he was a young kid .
I also know that a few years after, he lived in Tenafly or Englewood when he came back with my mother in 1930/1932, but I could not find where in any of the papers my father left. Is there any mean to know that ?
Thanks in advance for any reply .
I live in South Orange, New Jersey. Cumberland Road is still there. It hasn't changed in 80 years. Tomorrow I will look for 416 and report back to you.
I am waiting for your information about 416 Cumberland Road .
Could you tell me which is the fastest or the easiest way to come to South Orange from New York City ?
Train, bus, cab, car ?
What kind of distance is it ? And how much time do I need ?
You can get to Maplewood from NYC by train. Go to Penn Station (33rd and 7th ave) in NYC and take NJ Transit to the South Orange or Maplewood train stations. The ticket person can help you. It's a very nice area! A cab can take you there but it will cost you !
