I've lived in jersey city (greenville section)for the past 8 years. I know what the hood is like. I'm not a criminal, I'm a law abiding, working class, recycling, citizen.

because Jersey City is being gentrified faster than you can sneeze and due to financial problems i'm moving to East Orange near Brick church station. i'm mixed hispanic, black and native american(i tend to look hispanic though).

How is the area? is crime gang/drug related? am i at risk of being shot or robbed at night, lets say 10:00 pm?

any insight from the people that know or live there, will be greatly appreciated. thank you.

What's your budget ?

I'm not familiar with E. Orange, but I'm familiar with some other places that might be affordable (JC, Newark, parts of Orange)

The market is down now, so the more edgy neighborhoods are getting slammed. You may be able to find a deal.

The area near brick church in general is dangerous and has high crime, however its not the worst, if you stay on MLK BLVD and Harrison you shouldn't be robbed because its well lit and has a high populated thats always present and patrolled well. South of 280 near the newark border is considered the worst area of East Orange.
