I assume poor by NJ standards, not federal standards?
parts of Elmwood Park & Hawthorne are pretty poor as well...
I don't see how Federal standards are useful. COL is much higher in NJ than Alabama, for instance, so you could be poor here but lower middle class there.
Sounds like you’re describing what happens with average (mean), not median. Median means right in the middle. Half the people have a higher income and half the people have lower income.
But that's still going to be higher if the high income end is very high, isn't it?

No. Jeff Bezos could live in your town and that wouldn’t skew the median income much because his income is just one of say 30,000 people. If the other 29,999 people make 50-70k the median should still be around 60k. Now if there are a lot of high earners then yes the median income would be higher. But a lot of high earners doesn’t describe a poor town.

But that doesn’t mean poor people don’t live there. There are poor people in Ocean City for instance, there’s a section of section 8 housing, 2 low income senior apartment buildings, and multiple boarding houses. But the media income is high.
Where do poor people live doesn’t necessarily mean the whole town is poor.

Well, if the threshold is if ANY poor people live there then I can say with certainty that poor white people live in EVERY town. Close thread.

My first thought in looking at this thread was "Where are the trailer parks."
I took "poor" to mean, just don't have a whole lot of money.
