Traffic also sucks very badly around there so I would try to live close to your job. PA roads are horribly equipped to handle traffic.

Would be looking to get a decent house for under 400k. I've found this is a very tall order in NY metro (it's not impossible, but you're more or less priced out of not only the first tier, e.g. Millburn/Livingston/Caldwells/Summit/Westfield, but also the Montclair/Verona/Cedar Grove/South Orange ... ). Also, Essex/Bergen/Westchester property taxes are so punitive that a 400k house "costs" as much as a 500k house with less outrageous taxes.
