The NJ board is one of the busiest forums on City-Data and it usually chugs along quite smoothly without much intervention. However, we've been running into a few issues lately and we want to take a moment to be sure we're all on the same page.

If you haven't done so already, please be sure to read the City-Data Terms of Service if you read nothing else.

Some of the issues we've been encountering lately are:

Personal Attacks: Be sure you are debating the idea and not attacking the person, please. If one person attacks, that does not open the door to a similar response.

Copyright violations: ANYTHING on a website that bears the '©' symbol anywhere on the site means it's copyrighted. That goes for photographs, drawings, maps, data displays and, of course, the written word. You may post a SNIPPET (two sentences MAX) of written material, but no more than that and no photographs, drawings, etc. Posting this material puts the owners of this site (and it is a private site) at legal risk. Suits have been filed and won against sites posting copyrighted material belonging to others.

Providing REAL information: Telling someone to look on Google is not an appropriate answer. Senior mods and Administrator frown on this response.

Staying on Topic: A little off-topic here and there is fine, but let's not abandon the Original Post entirely

Complaining: This is an open forum and people are basically permitted to post here whether or not they live in NJ.
As long as the post is not totally off-topic, the poster does have the right to voice his opinion, even if you may not agree with it.

Discussing moderator actions: Discussing moderator actions, such as posting, 'This will probably be cut by the mod' is a TOS violation and will be removed. NO discussion of moderator actions is permitted. The specific moderator does NOT need to be cited in the post for this to be a violation. If you know it'll be cut by a mod, don't post it!

Racially or religiously insensitive remarks: It is sad that this has to even be mentioned, but please refrain from making remarks that are hurtful, unkind or racially/religiously insensitive.

Please report any thread that you believe might violate the TOS to the mods. We can't be everywhere at once, as we're volunteers and do this on our own time. We can't see every post or every thread, that just isn't feasible.

Thank you all for your assistance. With your help, we can have a productive forum.
