I broke down and watched an episode online. My mouth was open the whole time. How can they not realize they're all idiots? That's dancing? They were kneeling on the floor slapping it. Seriously? Is everyone that ugly in those nightclubs? My husband says he doesn't want to see it because he thinks it will be insulting to Italians. Nope. NO ONE thinks this is what Italians are like. And believe me - EVERYONE knows they're from NY. So no one I know is thinking it puts NJ down.

Default Just saw Jersey Shore

This show is garbage. I am no big fan of NJ, but not even Jersey deserves this kinda reputation. Who the hell are these people in this show? My school used to have lots of obnoxious people from Jersey, but none this bad. They have to be acting no human could be that big of a douchebag as these people.

Actually most of them are not even from jersey and they are not much worse than most of the young people they usually have on that channel.

I saw a part of one episode and what I got from it was in a matter of speaking:

Meet the new boss.
Same as the old boss.

Default RoccoPugliano

haha this is funny- for one, i never saw the show, dont ever care to

yes these amoebas do infiltrate the jersey shore, hence the reason i avoid it like the plague during the summer monthes even though i have lived here for over 20 years

as for the italian american thing- yup that be me- no actually i am american, my ANCESTORS were italian.......thats the way i look at things anyway

i listen to heavy metal and country music and during the summer weekends i usually take my harley for a ride through Pennsylvania (for the very sake of avoiding the Jersey Shore and these creatins)

only way i fit the stereotype is some parts of the accent
(i was born 7 miles outside of NYC and most of my family is still there)

know many other "italian-americans" like myself........

MTV- they should rename it TTV...Trash TV

It is trash TV, thats all MTV and many other stations has become. There are a lot of people who thrive on watching Jerry Springer type TV. A producer now sets out to get a bunch of stereotyped individuals, put them together and hope some conflicts develop. Make sure they are muscled up or have big chests.

What is sad is that in other parts of the country, people who are not exposed to 'normal' folks often buy in with the stereotypes and lifestyles. An example which may be a tangent is the story about all the Chihuahua dogs that have turned up in shelters, cause that 'trend' has waned.

I wont be surprised if MTV goes down to New Orleans or Texas to make 'Gulf Shore', where they will promote all sorts of stereotyped Billy Joe Bobs, Kaitlynns, cotillions, rodeos, shrimp boils and such.

I watched about 10 minutes last night and it's the worst TV show ever. People outside Jersey already had an ill perception of us and this is going to make it worse. Thanks MTV

Although this is always priceless:
