Most of Monmouth's natural beauty has been ruined. My town has many scenic spots around Farrington Lake and a nice taste of "Old New Jersey" along Rt 130.

I spent lots of time in Holmdel growing up as my grandparents live there and it is nice to be sure.
But I just do not understand the desire to live in Middlesex over Monmouth. Granted I have mostly spend time in Scotch Plains so maybe there are nicer areas but Scotch Plains seems exactly like Holmdel just north of the Driscoll.
So maybe its not really about specific towns but rather county preference.
And as for natural beauty, I know nothing that can compare to the northern end of Sandy Hook that is in Middlesex county but I would like to! I am sure Middlesex has some nice parks but none spring to mind, are there any state parks in Middlesex?

I agree with this. There are certainly some nice towns in Middlesex but I would say overall Middlesex is way more congested and that "infrastructure" seems to me like it's crumbling and falling apart every time I go there. I have relatives in Milltown and East Brunswick that I visit sometimes and the roads are always terrible up there.
Middlesex is marginally better if you have to commute to NYC, but barring that, I think Monmouth is far more desirable.

Ha, yup, same here. That's actually what ended up happening in Mantoloking. They just banned street parking so unless you live there, there is no way to access the beaches. I don't think they even were so kind as to erect a parking lot where you could pay $40.

My friend who has the house in Scotch Plains also has a beach house in Mantoloking. She got a ticket for having a picnic on the beach with her daughter. Apparently food is a no-no. The irony for me is she says even on beautiful days almost no one goes to the beach, so apparently for the wealthy of Mantoloking it isn't about sharing the beach with "outsiders" but rather just having to look at them.
Nice.

yeah, i thought the list was pretty funny as something to portray people from a specific town as snobs. but this guy has a bone to pick with those towns so everything about them will bother him. i doubt having a home depot in town would do much to bring down property taxes for the towns residents.

Scotch Plains is in Union County, not Middlesex.

That I call snobby.
So where does it go? Right outside of town at the old Kmart in Morganville.
Leave it to those jerks to prevent anything from going up that possibly could help pay property taxes so residents don't have to be solely relied on for it. God forbid anything there makes sense.

Don't people in NJ want lower taxes for businesses? Trust me, a Home Depot isn't going to bring in the ratables to lower taxes for residents. If that's true, people in nearly every Middlesex town would have dirt cheap property taxes.

Every Middlesex town has cheaper taxes than Manalapan or Marlboro. I know my town runs efficiently.
You are missing the point. The idea that addition of a Home Depot would have some kind of negative impact on the community is a product of pure snobbery.

This post is a pure snotty Monmouth Co down-your-nose view of the rest of the state kind of statement.
There are PLENTY of parks in Middlesex. Roosevelt, Donaldson, Johnson, Cheesequake, Thompson.
Here is a complete list:
Parks and Rec-Parks
How about the Perth Amboy waterfront? Few will argue the beauty of that.
The problem is the inefficiency of the way the area is run. I like not being landlocked and having easy access to all the major highways, rather than constantly sitting in traffic on roads that are over capacity or stuck behind one driver.
Eastern Monmouth has many scenic areas, a personal fave would be the Atlantic Highlands area, which I would take over Sandy Hook. The coastline has many nice spots, but I would not want to live in the inland burbs. As you get further south on the coastline though, the beaches are nicer.

If you are talking about Rt 18, I agree with you. It is horrible. I know every way around it possible.
They have been improving Rt 1 though, it's better now than it used to be.
