I have a friend coming to visit next week. Can anyone recommend a good bar to go out to on a weeknight in Montclair? Something with a 20's & 30's crowd and not too fancy would be good. The only place I have been to is The Office on Bloomfield Ave.

Not knowing much about you, if you're on a budget and like crowded bars, I'd go Just Jakes. If you like something nicer, a little more money but not over the top, Egans.

Personally though, Egans is too lax for me though, but it still gets crowded, just that its a touch more refined.

Tierney's or Just Jakes would work. might want to avoid Jakes on Thursday cause they run $1 beers and it gets really crowded with a college crowd. More relaxed every other day tho

The Diva Lounge (I haven't been in several years) but great atmosphere, couches to sit down and relax while you have cocktails.

Tierneys? I don't get what people like about this place, its always empty every time I go there, and just sort of in the middle of no where with nothing else open

What are the best sports bars in Montclair? How is that place near the Walnut St train station?

Tierney's is good, I also met friends at Charlie Browns recently which was good. Sports bar, I don't know of one there.
