I am thinking of taking a job in Voorhees Twnship and living in Ocean City, NJ. Can anyone give me feedback on the commute. Mapuest has it an hour via AC expressway. Is this accurate? I currently live in the baltimore/DC area and a 1 hour commute is average. Does anyone do this, or can people give me feedback? thanks

That is an easy 1hr drive with minimal traffic. Add 20+ minutes to deal with Traffic and in the summer add 40+ minutes on drive home on Fridays.

Not sure. But if I could swing living at the beach I would! Sounds worth it to me, if doable with the commute.

Good luck!

The only problem will be summer traffic, which can get really bad at times.

Thanks for the feedback. After a year I will be able to work from home 2 days a week, one of those will be friday. I still have to sell my wife on it. She is a nurse and I am hoping she can get a job at shore memorial or another hospital.

I live in OC as well, IMO it will take more than an hour, especially at rush hour. The Expressway will be fine but the Voorhees area will have a ton of traffic. How is it telling you to go from the expressway? If it tells you to take 42 and 295 you'll be in nightmare traffic on both, getting off at the route 73 exit will be much better.

No, it doesn't put me on 295, it has me on 73 for 11 miles once I am off the AC expressway. Do you know of anyone who commutes like that? Yea, my concern is the summer traffic. Not sure alot to think about.

I used to live in Marlton, which is a little farther up than Voorhees, and commuted to Atlantic City to work. It was not a bad drive BUT I worked in the casinos at odd hours so was never in rush hour. Friday nights coming back to OC will be very bad on the expressway/parkway unless you can swing something to come in early/leave early that day. I commuted an hour in my last job, but was done on Fridays at 2 so was ahead of the traffic. I have to say I love living in OC and I think it's worth it even though I have to drive a lot more to do a lot of things (see my family, etc). It's really only July and August and the rest of the year it won't be a bad drive. If you're already used to D.C. area traffic I can't imagine that you'll be traumatized by the commute, even in the summer.
