Hello, Im new to this. My friend and I are interested in moving to Kensington Ave bet Bergen and JFK Blvd. We think we like it up to now. We've pass through at night and not much was going on, but again it is the middle of January. We drove down a bit and noticed the neighborhood does change just a few blocks down. Can anyone tell us is this are good or safe? This is a big move for us and we want to make sure it's the right one..... We noticed there no window gates on many apartments. Are they necessary? Last what's the easiest way to get from Journal square to Kensington? I know there are buses that run on Bergen and Kennedy Blvd. From reading some reviews it sounds like Kennedy is the best route. It's safer and the bus is more reliable. Is this true? Any feed back would be much appreciated. Thanks

Kensington Avenue used to be where all of the rich people lived, but then the drug dealers chased them out. I know that there are still some big old houses there, and I have heard that the area is becoming "gentrified" or "yuppie-fied" again.

Since I moved out of the area a few years ago, I'm not going to try to tell you what it is like today, but if not much has changed then I would try to limit myself to the part of Kensington that is West of Kennedy Boulevard.

I'm not familiar with that block. There are a couple of decent blocks between JFK and Bergen, but there are some bad spots (most of Bergen is a "bad spot")

You could walk to JSQ from there (at night you'd want to take JFK, not Bergen)

If you're coming home late at night, you can also take a cab from JSQ.
