I would move in a second. I grew up in Colorado and absolutely loved it. Beautiful, wonderful people and Louisville rated number 1 place to live in the US.

That is so true. My husband lived in CO for four years in college and he still tells me that the winters aren't like here. All I know is that I hear a lot of snow!

Hmmm not sure. I spent a 6 months on a project based out of Colorado Springs. (Would fly there for the week and home on the weekends.) Sure the mountains were pretty but that got ho hum after a while. The thing that got me the most was the food - or lack of good food - closely followed by the blandness of subdivisions and stripmalls. It was on my nerves after 6 months so not sure I could make a permanent move there.

Depends on circumstances and lifestyle as usual but Colorado would be on my yes list. Longtime childhood neighbor in NJ moved there in mid twenties and has been there more than 25 years and loves it. Aspen area- she survives well on middle income-no kids. She has good job at the senior center there and my childhood babysitter lives in that same area also. Say hello for me.

Only you can make the decision as to whether or not the money and the cheap costs for housing, etc. are worth moving away from your family and friends. If you have a family of your own I'd think you can make a life for yourselves wherever makes you happy, and family and friends will still be where they are and you can visit.

As for the part of CO you're talking about, it's a little too close to Greeley, for my tastes. I liked the parts south of Denver, like Highlands Ranch and all the way down to Colorado Springs. But that Greeley was not a pleasant experience. There is a ConAgra slaughterhous there, and the abject stench was unbearable at times. Ask anyone who went to Colorado State.

As for snow, the higher in the mountains you are, the more the snow. But Denver itself stays surprisingly snow-free for a lot of the time and the winters are quite mild. Now, they still do get dumped on occasionally - usually at least once a winter, and more typically a few times. But in between it is actually a bit warmer and it's a very sunny place, very dry, also.

When it comes to living there, I know I would rather not, so I wouldn't move there unless it was a very, VERY attractive offer. I'd want to be living in a beautiful home and driving the best cars and making enough money to travel at will. If it were just a matter of a cheaper home, or a moderately nicer/bigger home, I probably would pass.

Good luck deciding! Make sure you check for slaughterhouses wherever you house hunt out there, lol
