Where are there good places to look at/find antiques in northern NJ. Anything within a decent radius would be good, I tend to drive a lot.

I found some good places in Lafayette, NJ. Anywhere else? I am more interested in older items (rather than newer items sold at some flea markets) and I really like accessories, odds and ends, etc. (like signs, old toys, sports memorabilia, etc.) more so than furniture, though that's fine too.

You'll love the Dover Antiques Center. There's God-knows-how-much square footage PACKED with the most amazing variety of EVERYTHING. I swear I could lose days worth of time just browsing around. Here's the info. Dover Antique Center · (973) 989-4470, 10 N Warren St, Dover. It's not open every day so call before you make a visit. They ARE open on Sundays from 10am until (I think) 5pm. Enjoy yourself!

I love estate auctions for things like that. Most auctions have websites these days so you can get a feel for what's coming up, although they never put everything on the site so there are always surprises.
You can find auctions by zip code here:
Auction Zip - Live Auction Locator - Find Auctions Anywhere!
I've found a lot of good things at auctions and met some interesting people.

And if you end up going to the Dover Antique center...take a stroll down Boonton Main Street. Lots of little interesting antique stores.

What a great topic MMan - thanks! I was watching a show on HGTV called Sarah's House and she ended up getting this lovely piece for a guest room for $70. I thought that since I was currently unemployed, I could give myself a day off from job searching and checking out local auctions. Thanks to Antoinette, I now know where I am going!

Here's a list I came across once. Covers all of NJ though. You will have to filter out North Jersey towns.

New Jersey flea markets | New Jersey vendors | New Jersey wholesale

How do auctions generally work? Is there a fee for going? Bidding? I would probably just go to observe at first and see how they operate and to get a feel. It seems like it could be fun, though I am sure many auctions just have a ton of junk.

Default I am trying to find a vendor.

Hi, MMan710,

Do you know of any Flea Market vendors at the flea markets you have been to? I am in north Jersey and am closing up my house. I have a lot of stuffed animals, lamps, kitchen items, furniture, garage items (a tractor but not a flea market item), clothes (and more I can't think of right now.) I am trying to find a Flea Market vendor who could use an inventory. But I don't know how to get in touch with one. If you have been frequently, have you collected names and contact info of any?

Thanks for any info.

Before you are allowed to bid, you must register. After you register, you're given a number. That number is to keep track of what you win. You don't pay after each win; you pay the total of all of your items before you leave. There is usually a 10% to 15% buyer's fee on top of your total. If you have a tax-exempt number, you don't pay sales tax. Most auctions don't have junk; you would be surprised what's at auctions.

There's a viewing time before the auction starts. Go to this and look at the things you have interest in carefully and make notes, especially how much you would pay. Have fun and don't get caught up in bidding wars.
