commuting by bus from north jersey to NYC (Hoboken: home, buses)

the only mass transit available in my town in Bergen county to NYC is the bus. I'm looking to work in NYC, and wanted to know what it's like to commute by bus. HOw are the wait times? What about in extreme weather conditions (like in arctic conditions or driving rain)? Is it on-time most of the time? Are you able to get a seat? Do you get used to it or does doing it evey day get to you?

Depends on the route you take and the time you leave. Currently I take the 126 from Hoboken. There are sometimes REALLY long lines for the bus on the way home around 6pm. But the lines more fast since that line has a ton of buses. Unless there is an accident or something, the worse wait is 20 minutes. But if you can get there by 5:30, there is usually no wait at all.

the 126 is different than a lot of the lines. As soon as you get out of the tunnel, you jump onto local streets. No need for 495 and such.

Buses are usually on time. Generally speaking, if you're commuting by bus, get into the city as early as you can (after 8 am traffic into the city get pretty bad) and leave the city as late as you can (Port Authority gets very crowded during evening rush hour and it's not unusual to see 40+ people waiting to get on the bus). Weather conditions might affect your commute but unless it's blizzard-like storm, you should be fine. Rain or light snow is usually not an issue.
