Hi, Nammyo. If you don't have kids and plan on renting, then yes, I would consider Roselle and the section near Warinanco Park is a good section. Another good section is the part that borders Linden near Roselle Catholic. You should keep that in mind, as well.

However, if you have school-age kids or are thinking of buying a property, I'd be very leery of Roselle. First off, the public schools are terrible. If you don't put your child in private school (which can be expensive), you'd be doing them a disservice. And if you're thinking of buying, please keep in mind that property taxes there are INSANE. For what you get, maybe the worst I've seen in the whole state.

So, basically, renting with no kids ... yes. Buying and with kids ... I wouldn't recommend it. Hope that helps and good luck with your search!!!

Default Rent only

I work in Roselle. I would only rent on the Linden/Cranford border. Violence has been increasing in the area lately with shoot outs and there was a murder several weeks ago with setting up a taxi driver for murder and robbery. I agree with the above poster that taxes are insane and you barely get any services for your money. If you have kids, I would not consider the area for renting or buying.

Also, near W park, in Linden currently there are robberies with men posing as police officers and robbing homes and being violent towards the home owners. This has been on the news and a co-worker lives in the area where police have been meeting with the community. The police seem to be on top of the problem now.

I would also consider your ethnic background. If you are white or asian, you may be more of a target for minor theft, etc. Most violent crime is gang related except for the taxi driver in recent weeks.

I would avoid Roselle. It is not a good area at all, perhaps you are better off in Linden or even hillside.

Roselle IS the worst town for taxes in the state when taking per capita income into account.

Agreed the areas near the Linden/Cranford borders are decent enough and Roselle Catholic High school is top notch with public schools not too great. There's always been a crime problem in certain areas and that hasn't really changed.
