Well, the plow here pushed all the snow into a 5-foot mountain in front of our dumpsters. We're not getting trash pickup till spring!

When I shovel, I usually do a ten foot square of the roadway just to the side of my driveway so the plow has that much less to push into my driveway.

I wait until they are done and then I snow blow it all at once. The snowblower eats right through it. In fact, when I was done, I dug out my neighbor's mailbox. He probably thinks the guys he hired to do his driveway did it.

Wouldnt it be great if there was a way to melt it?

My uncle in Vail just flips a switch when it snows and the driveway heats up so that the snow melts when it hits it. He's got a high gas bill in the winter though.

The building I used to work at in MetroPark had a heated driveway in front of the place. It was pretty radical for the mid-1980s.

Default what is the alternative?

Plowed snow deposit is expected. If you treat it as such it becomes less of a problem. There is comfort in predictability.

How can you plow all the roads in a town and somehow not leave residual snow in each driveway?

Snow is a reminder from nature that she can trump any of our best technology and doesn't even list human considerations on her busy agenda.

I've never heard of a snow melting truck, but it sounds cool!

Where else are they going to put the snow? It definitely bites, but really there is not much they can do. I have had that happened to me at least 4 times when hubby was out of town. Trying to shovel it was next to impossible. Thank goodness for helpful neighbors!
