go to a nj website called "NJ school report card" this will help you know about the schools in the area you are looking in. Also there is another website called "School Matters" you can find out about any school in any area or state you want.

Colonia - pretty on the outside however, 60 Minutes (News show ) had a feature on the gangs in Colonia - shocking for such a nice community. The HS is just OK. But the Catholic School - St John Viannay's is great.
God bless.

Default Gangs? In Colonia

Gangs???? in Colonia???? On 60 minutes? You are SO mistaken!!!

I have been a social worker in this area for over 20 years. There may be gangs in Rahway, but they have not made their way into Colonia. I'm not nieve person - we have to still be dilligent about keeping them out of Colonia. We may have some kids who are members of gangs, but they keep their activities out of Colonia so far. However, lots of drugs here. But when you get an upper middle class area, you see that. Look at Summit. They have million $$ homes there too - and they have a bigger drug problem than we do!

Schools are very good - but I'm not very fond of the Middle School. I find their teachers to be burnt out and apathetic. But that's just me.

Colonia High School is outstanding. They take a lot of time with their students are actually seem to care about the kids futures.

Cool Colonia

Colonia NJ may not be the perfect suburban area, although it boosts a high level of respectable and kind people. I have no idea where anyone may have heard about gang activity in colonia NJ, maybe it was another town in another state, anyhow colonias people don't stand for the BS in the near by towns, there are several watch groups, and they are vegilant, colonia may not be perfect but all it takes is good people to kick the negative out.
